Mass-blasting AI resumes is not working. Here are three creative ways to use Claude to actually stand out, with the exact prompts to run for each one.
Please stop connecting Claude to a job board and firing off 500 applications a day. As a business owner who gets these constantly, I promise you it is not working. It is painfully obvious when a resume was just rewritten by AI to match the job post word for word, and it usually goes straight in the no pile.
The problem is not AI. The problem is using AI the same lazy way everyone else does. Used well, it is the biggest unfair advantage a job seeker has ever had. Here are three moves that make a hiring manager actually stop and pay attention, plus the prompts to run them.
Do This First
Pick one company you genuinely want, not fifty. All three moves reward depth. One sharp, tailored effort beats a hundred generic ones every single time.
Everyone else says what they would do. You are going to actually do it. Use Claude to find a real gap in their business, then build the fix and send it over. That could be a weak spot on their landing page, a clunky email flow, or a competitor quietly eating their lunch.
Nothing else on this list proves you can do the work like handing them a piece of the work, already done. The prompt below does not just point at problems. It ranks them by how much money they move, then builds the highest-impact fix for you, ready to send.
The Prompt
The One-Day Consultant
Copy this into Claude before you apply. It turns you into a consultant they hired for a day: it finds where the company is leaking revenue, ranks the gaps by impact, and then builds the single highest-impact fix for you, so you show up with proof you can do the job instead of a promise that you can.
Then send it with this. Copy the note below, drop in what you built, and send it straight to the hiring manager (Move 02 shows you how to find them). The second half is your follow-up if you do not hear back.
Now put it to work. Save Claude's output as a clean one-page PDF, or record a short two-minute Loom walking through the before and after. Keep it genuinely free, and never claim a result you did not verify. One real, tailored build like this beats a hundred generic applications.
Application portals are where resumes go to disappear. Go straight to the human instead. Use Claude to deeply research the hiring manager and the company, their recent launches, their reviews, their real problems. Then send one short, sharp message on LinkedIn or by email with an actually useful insight.
Not "I'm passionate and hardworking." Something like "I saw you just launched X, here is one way I could help it land." Useful beats eager every time. The prompt below finds the right human, builds a research dossier on them, and drafts every message for you.
The Prompt
The Warm Approach
Copy this into Claude once you know the company but before you touch the portal. It figures out who the actual decision-maker is, researches them and the business, and drafts a short, specific message that leads with real value, so you land in a human's inbox instead of an applicant-tracking void.
Then keep the thread alive. Most replies come from the follow-up, not the first message. Copy these for the two moments that matter: no reply after a week, and the moment they respond.
Before you hit send, fact-check it yourself. Claude can be confidently wrong, and one wrong detail about their launch or their name undoes the whole effort. Open every source, confirm anything marked "verify," then send. Reference something real and specific, or do not reference it at all.
A resume is a list of your past. A 90-day plan is a preview of your future with them, and it is rare enough to make you unforgettable. Have Claude reverse-engineer why the role actually exists and the top problems they need solved, then map out exactly what you would do in your first three months.
Done well, this is the single most powerful thing you can hand a hiring manager. It quietly says "I already understand the job" before you have even started. The prompt below builds the whole one-pager for you.
The Prompt
The 90-Day Plan
Copy this into Claude once you have the job description in hand. It reverse-engineers why the role really exists, then builds a specific, confident 30-60-90 day plan tied to their actual business and the metrics they care about, so you walk in looking like you already have the job.
Then hand it over with this. Attach the plan to your application, or better, send it to the hiring manager from Move 02 with the note below.
Now put it to work. Read the whole plan before you send it and cut anything that sounds like a guess, this is going to a person who lives the job daily. Keep it to one page. Bring a printed copy to the interview. A plan that says "I already understand the job" beats any bullet point about what you did somewhere else.
The Real Win
Every one of these works because it flips the script: instead of asking to be picked, you show up already contributing. Do this for one company you love, and you will stand out more than someone who applied to a hundred. Be the person who did the work, not the one who begged for the chance.
