ChatGPT Ads
Context Hints

The prompt I use to brainstorm context hints for my own brands, plus where to go to build your first campaign.

People are increasingly using ChatGPT to research things, compare products, ask for recommendations and solve problems. ChatGPT Ads lets a business show up while those decisions are still taking shape.

The Prompt

Give it your product information and it comes back with 5 context hints ready to paste into Ads Manager, plus what each one adds and anything it could not verify.

Context Hints Prompt
Help me create effective context hints for my ChatGPT Ads ad group. I'll share information about my business, what I'm advertising, and optionally my ad copy or landing page below. Business/product: [Describe your business, product, or service] What I'm advertising: [Describe the specific product, service, or offer for this ad group] Landing page: [Paste the URL or relevant landing page copy] Current ad copy (optional): [Paste your ad] Anything else customers should know (optional): [Key features, use cases, locations served, pricing, customer needs, etc.] Based only on the information I provide, suggest 5 context hints that help ChatGPT understand the kinds of needs or situations where my ad may be relevant. A good context hint adds useful detail about what my product or service offers, who it can help, or when it may be useful. For example: Meal delivery Too broad: "Healthy meal delivery" Better: "Ready-to-eat high-protein meals for people looking for convenient weekday lunches that don't require cooking." Accounting software Too broad: "Accounting software for small businesses" Better: "Accounting software that helps small business owners create invoices and keep track of business expenses in one place." Use these examples as inspiration for the level of specificity, not as templates to copy. For each context hint: Add useful information beyond simply repeating my ad copy. Describe a specific customer need, situation, use case, or reason someone might find my product or service useful. Connect relevant product or service features to those needs. Use clear, natural language rather than a list of keywords. Keep all hints focused on the same product, service, or intent represented by this ad group. Only use facts supported by the information I provide. Do not invent features, prices, offers, locations, claims, or other details. Do not write targeting or exclusion instructions or use sensitive personal characteristics. If the information I've provided isn't enough to create a useful context hint, ask me for the missing information rather than making assumptions. Your output: Give me the 5 recommended context hints, ready to copy into Ads Manager. Briefly explain what useful context each hint adds. Flag anything in my inputs that you could not verify or safely use. If my inputs cover meaningfully different products or use cases that should have separate ad groups, tell me how you would split them.
Then Go Build One

Run one ad group with 5 hints, submit it, and watch what happens. You will learn more from one live campaign than from reading about it.
