The AI Sandwich
(+ 15 Tasks To Hand Off)

Most people hand AI a whole task and end up fixing it five minutes later. The AI Sandwich fixes that. Here is the method, plus 15 tasks you can stop doing yourself today.

Here is the framing that changed how I use AI: think of every task like a sandwich, and you are the bread on both ends.

You make the judgment calls at the start and the finish. AI runs everything in the middle. Get the two ends right and AI can do a shocking amount on its own. Most people skip the bread, hand AI the whole task, and wonder why they are back five minutes later fixing it.

How The Sandwich Works
  1. Top slice (you): set the goal, define what success looks like, and name what AI should avoid.
  2. The filling (AI): the research, the analysis, the first draft, the repetitive work.
  3. Bottom slice (you): review, refine, and approve.

The more judgment you move to the two ends, the more AI can own the middle. That is the whole trick.

15 Tasks To Stop Doing Yourself

Each one runs as a sandwich: you set the goal and guardrails, Claude or ChatGPT does the middle, you approve. The whole trick is what YOU feed it, so each task tells you exactly that.

The Sandwich Prompt

Here is the reusable version. Paste it once, fill in the top slice, and every task above becomes a proper sandwich you can actually walk away from.

The Sandwich Prompt
## THE SANDWICH PROMPT TOP SLICE — what I'm setting (fill this in): - The task: [what you want done, e.g. turn these notes into a client-ready recap] - Done looks like: [the finished result you'd accept, e.g. one page, my voice, no jargon] - Must include: [anything it has to have] - Never do: [off-limits, e.g. don't invent facts, don't change my numbers] - What you have to work with: [paste the notes, thread, transcript, or data] THE FILLING — what you, the AI, do: 1. If anything is unclear, ask me up to 3 questions first. Otherwise, start. 2. Do the task, then give me TWO versions: one safe, one bolder. 3. At the end, list anything you assumed or were unsure about. BOTTOM SLICE — how I finish: I'll pick a version and tell you what to change. Make only those edits, then stop.

The Real Win

You are not handing off judgment, you are handing off the middle. That is the difference between babysitting AI and actually leading it.
